Position description

The Department of Modern Languages and Literatures at Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ invites applications to teach the following two courses in French Studies during the Fall and Winter semester of the 2025-2026 academic year.  

•    FREN 3131 - Contemporary Spoken French / Français parlé contemporain (Fall term)  

•    FREN 3991 - Special Topics (Winter term)   

Special Topics (FREN-3991) is a literature course in the applicant’s area of expertise. 20th century French literature to 1950 is preferred, though the Department will consider other time periods and/or themes.  

Both courses are stipendiary (part-time) appointments under the Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ Allison Faculty Association’s Part-Time Collective Agreement. Successful applicants will have an M.A. or PhD in French studies. Native or near-native fluency in French is essential, as is experience teaching university-level French language to non-native speakers.

The courses will be taught in-person or scheduled on-line and involve three hours of class time per week. Anticipated class size for the courses is 15-25 students.
